Inside You’ll Find

The work of John Fieldhouse

John Fieldhouse is a long-established artist whose luminous paintings evoke the moods of land, sky and water in the Borders country he loves. As well as John's large paintings we offer a selection of his small watercolours and affordable prints.

But that’s not all we have!

We offer a veritable feast for the eyes with one-of-a-kind treasure for every budget. Browse through the beautiful willow work of Anna Turnbull, the fabulous creations of Lindsey Hunter, “things to wear that are not normally” worn; Kerry’s crocheted creations and ‘reimagined’ pieces, alongside work by visiting ceramicists, glassworkers and jewellers.

The Fieldhouse Partnership

Celebrating 32 years of marriage and 37 years as a couple, John and Kerry have amassed invaluable knowledge and experience in the world of art and craft.

Their sales experience began by selling paintings and craft works on Jesmond’s Armstrong Bridge. During the 1980s they lived the itinerant life of artists by participating in a multitude of craft fairs until John‘s work was spotted by a gallery owner in North Shields. Then he was then taken up by Grey’s Gallery and Warkworth Gallery.

The Chatton Gallery

In 1993, together with another artist, John and Kerry converted the shell of a church in Chatton to open The Chatton Gallery. This space quickly became an established venue for a variety of work showcasing renowned national and international artists and craftspeople.

Since then, John’s work has developed and evolved and is his primary focus. He has established his name in the art world with regular sell-out solo shows.

Meet Kerry

Kerry has a gift for creating new and beautiful pieces by giving unused day-to-day objects and pieces of art new life and purpose. She is renowned for using fragments; fragments of John’s paintings, fibres, fabrics and found objects, and creating something new and unique.

Recently retired from a long and successful teaching career, Kerry is now focused on ‘making’ and ‘creating’. Expressing her creativity was something that, at one time only happened in-between the demands of her career as an educator but has now become her full time focus and passion.

Her latest venture is making new objects from much loved heirloom pieces. Read more…
